Bridle2Fit was developed through a collaboration between equine dentists, bit fitters, and veterinarians at the Veterinary Equine Dental Center (VPGC)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the course of their work, they regularly saw horses experiencing discomfort caused by an ill-fitting bridle or bit. While a well-fitting saddle is a given for many riders, the importance of a well-fitting bridle is often underestimated. <\/p>\n\n\n<\/section>\n\n

Why It Matters<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why a Well-Fitting Bridle Is Essential<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The horse’s head contains important muscle and nerve origins that influence the movement of the entire body. For example: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. The atlas (C1)<\/strong>, where the skull meets the spine.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. The temporomandibular joint (TMJ)<\/strong>, located below the ears on the sides of the head.<\/li>\n\n\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    A poorly fitting or too-tight bridle can cause pain and discomfort. This can result in evasive behavior<\/strong>, poor posture<\/strong> (such as a false neck bend), and a negative impact on movement. The same applies to a poorly fitting bit. <\/p>\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n<\/section>\n\n
